ACTIVITIES

Farmers' markets

Normandy is full of small producers and local markets, and the Eure region is no exception. Enjoy authentic local cuisine while strolling through the Eure fresh farmer's markets: while those of Neubourg (Wednesday) and Cormeilles (Friday) are the best known, each village in the department has its own weekly market. The Bernay market (Saturday) is also worth a visit.

Heritage & Architecture

Just 1.5 hours from Paris, this little corner of Normandy is full of treasures and must-see sites to discover during a romantic weekend or a vacation with friends. Like Claude Monet in his time, stroll through the streets of Giverny. Unwind in Bernay, a charming town of Arts and History, and be amazed by its abbey church and preserved architecture. Be enchanted by Le Bec Hellouin, labeled one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France, with its abbey, half-timbered houses, and lush green landscapes. The region's many castles will delight history buffs: the Châteaux de Beaumesmil, the Château d'Harcourt and its Arboretum, the Château du Champ de Bataille and its sublime gardens...

Sea & Nature

With 600 kilometers of coastline, Normandy offers a stunningly diverse landscape. High cliffs, sandy beaches, dunes, wild coves, and jagged rocks dot the coastline. Less than an hour from La Maison Maya are the famous towns of Deauville and Trouville, not to mention Honfleur and its charming port. Further north, the magnificent cliffs of Etretat, and heading down towards the Cotentin Peninsula, you'll discover the D-Day landing beaches. For nature lovers, the region boasts four regional natural parks. At the heart of the Boucles de la Seine Normande Regional Natural Park, the Marais Vernier is a precious and unique natural site in France.

Sports & Leisure

The Eure region is a natural destination for cycle tourists in Normandy. The greenway offers 40km of cycling, with a varied landscape stretching from Evreux and the wooded hills through the Neubourg plain to the flax fields of Bec Hellouin. The region is also home to numerous stud farms and equestrian centers. A few minutes from La Maison Maya, Le Bec Hellouin offers horse riding lessons and introductory rides for young and old. For the more athletic, the Brionne leisure center and its 22-hectare lake offer canoeing/kayaking lessons, as well as simple pedal boat rides. And for animal lovers, why not visit the Saint Cyr educational farm, a place dedicated to raising awareness about our animal friends?

Restaurants

Normandy is one of the most renowned regions in France for its gastronomy. Whether you're a fan of local specialties, creative cuisine, or looking for a "small, simple place," you're sure to find what you're looking for. Upon your arrival at La Maison Maya, we'll be happy to give you our best recommendations.

Arts & Cultures

From prehistory to the Gallo-Roman era, including Impressionist masters and contemporary works of art, the museums of Eure are full of treasures. Bernay, Rouen, Giverny... Normandy is a land of culture.
